With backgrounds in aeronautical engineering and material sciences, Tan Yi Han and Alex Wu take an explorative approach to form and material.

When we first met them, the two potters were producing works with strong references to the soft teals and pinks Ru 汝 and Jun 钧 pottery of the Song Dynasty. But they are not defined by their judicious study of tradition, as is seen in their more playful works such as in Yi Han’s metallic petal-like vases and Alex’s folded layers of clay which patterns are then excavated through carving.
